ABOUT US

PLASTEX is the largest roto-moulding plastics manufacturer and distributor in Mozambique of water storage and transport tanks, as well as waste water and sanitation solutions.

Established in 1995 the company developed the 'PLASTEX TANK' Mozambique's first plastic water tank, meeting SABS and international standards. As the company grew it invested in energy efficient state of the art roto-moulding technology. This ensures the products are durable, versatile and cost-effective. Strict quality control ensures products consistently meet specifications and customer expectations. Its four regional plants are strategically located in the south (Maputo), centre (Beira), north (Nacala), and west (Tete). These plants facilitate production and distribution of high quality products, on time and with minimum freight costs. The product range has gradually extended from water tanks – available from 250 liters to 15,000 liters – to septic and fuel tanks. The product range now includes water containers, crates, wheelie bins, pallets and silos and a wide range of accessories and water filtration systems. The PLASTEX brand name is now a well-known national brand, and the company has built a strong reputation within its target markets.

WE FACILITATE ACCESS TO POTABLE WATER AND SANITATION BY PROVIDING SUSTAINABLE WATER STORAGE AND WASTEWATER SOLUTIONS

Mozambique is among the world’s most disaster-prone countries. Floods, cyclones, drought and earthquakes have a significant impact on the people and economy. Environmental protection in the context of climate change is also now a major challenge facing Mozambique, especially in relation to water.

The country has very low levels of access to drinking water and sanitation (50% and 75% of the population respectively). Four thousand children die each year from water related illnesses.

Promoting access to safe water is a priority for PLASTEX. Its mission is to facilitate access to potable water and sanitation by providing sustainable water storage and wastewater solutions. The company provides practical, robust and durable products in a wide range of configurations, as well as high quality water treatment and purification products. These include water tanks, chemical and fuel tanks, septic containers, aquaculture ponds, fish crates, bins and other industrial products.
ONE OF OUR MAIN CONCERNS IS HOW TO USE WATER MORE EFFICIENTLY

Mozambique is one of Africa’s most vulnerable countries to climate change. Poverty, weak institutional development and frequent extreme weather events make Mozambique especially vulnerable. Climate-related hazards such as droughts, floods and cyclones are occurring with increasing frequency, which is having a cumulative and devastating impact on the population.

As our planet undergoes major climate changes, collecting rain water, especially when water bans are in place, can make a huge difference to quality of life.

By harvesting and utilising rainwater in our homes, we shift our reliance from expensive centralised water supply lines to cost-effective decentralised water conservation.

Collecting rainwater from roofs may also be the only way to ensure an adequate water supply for a growing population, and to combat increased pressure on antiquated water supply systems and climate change.
